Since February 2014, UC Davis undergraduates have connected with Sacramento families through the Resource Desk Project at the WellSpace Pediatric Clinic in Oak Park. The Resource Desk acknowledges the impact that social determinants of health have on individuals' daily lives and connects families to non-medical community resources. Through these connections to local organizations, the clinic supports holistic patient health.
Resource Desk advocates work directly with Oak Park families, connecting them to community organizations providing free or low-cost resources like food, clothing, and childcare. This position requires a consecutive two-quarter commitment and is contingent upon passing a drug test and background check. There is a 3- to 4-hour commitment per week—two hours at the clinic, one hour at home to follow-up with clients, and one hour every other week to attend group meetings.
A full position description can be found in the PDF below. All advocate slots will be filled before the quarter begins. Apply by email (see PDF for details). If, after reading the position description, you have questions about the Resource Desk, please feel free to contact Angela Tang at angtang@ucdavis.edu.
